How to play Crazy Mountain Drive 3D
Everything for your first run up the mountain: the goal, the controls, how Guts Points and stars work, which cars to chase and what each road throws at you.
What is the goal?
Each level is one mountain road from a start gate to a finish gate. Reach the finish with health left and the road is cleared. The mountain wins if you go over an edge, lose all your health or, on the last road, get buried by the avalanche.
Clearing a road opens the next one and the next tier of cars. There are seven roads, from 3.2 km on Level 1 to 7.5 km on Level 7, and each one is longer, narrower and more dangerous than the last.
How do I start a run?
- Press Play now. The first time, the game asks whether you have the guts to drive the deadliest mountain road. Whatever you answer, the mountain is waiting.
- Press Play on the main menu and pick a road on the level select. Only Level 1 is open at first.
- Pick a car in the Garage. It opens before every run with your last car already chosen.
- After the 3-2-1 countdown, drive to the finish gate.
What are the controls?
Keyboard
| Action | Keys |
|---|---|
| Accelerate | W or ↑ |
| Brake, then reverse when stopped | S or ↓ |
| Steer | A D or ← → |
| Handbrake, for drifts | Space |
| Nitro | Shift |
| Chase or hood camera | C |
| Put a stuck car back on the road | R |
| Pause | Esc or P |
| Sound off or on | M |
Phone or tablet
- Turn your phone sideways. The game plays in landscape and fills the screen once you press Play now.
- Steer with the buttons on the left. In Settings you can switch to tilt steering (hold the phone the way you drive and tap Calibrate) or an on-screen wheel.
- Gas and brake are on the right, with Nitro and Drift above them. The pause button is at the top right.
- Auto-accelerate in Settings keeps the car driving forward until you brake.
Gamepad
- Right trigger: gas. Left trigger: brake and reverse. Left stick: steer.
- A: nitro. B: handbrake. Start: pause.
- In the menus the D-pad moves, A picks and B goes back.
Driver assist (light counter-steer and stability control) is on by default on touch screens and can be switched on or off in Settings. Drifting refills nitro, and a full tank lights up the gauge.
How do Guts Points work?
Every run earns Guts Points, even one that ends in a crash. They go into your wallet, and you spend them on cars in the Garage. The game also keeps your best score on each road.
| What you do | Points |
|---|---|
| Distance driven | 1 per 2 m |
| Near miss: traffic passes within 1.2 m while you drive above 60 km/h | 50 |
| Edge Rider: within 0.8 m of an open drop above 60 km/h | 75 |
| Hazard dodge: a rock or debris passes within 3 m without hitting you | 100 |
| Drift above 40 km/h | 20 per second |
| Airtime | 25 per 0.5 s, x1.5 on a clean four-wheel landing |
| Checkpoint | 200 x the level number |
| Clean section: no damage since the last checkpoint | 150 |
| Level clear | 1,000 x the level number |
| Each star | 500 |
Every trick (a near miss, Edge Rider, a dodge, a drift or airtime) pays at your current combo and raises it a step, up to x3. The combo falls back to x1 after 3 seconds without a trick.
Each road multiplies everything you earn on it, from x1 on Level 1 to x2.5 on Level 7. A car from a lower tier than the road earns +10% points for every tier it sits below the road, up to +30%.
Stars
- 1 star for finishing.
- 2 stars for finishing with at least 50% health left.
- 3 stars for also reaching the road's points target, counted with the road's multiplier but before the star bonus: Level 1: 5,100, Level 2: 11,100, Level 3: 21,900, Level 4: 35,200, Level 5: 51,800, Level 6: 66,900, Level 7: 96,900.
After Level 7 you can replay any road for more stars and a better score.
How do I unlock cars?
There are 20 cars in 7 tiers. Every car is an original design with six stats from 1 to 10 (Speed, Acceleration, Handling, Durability, Ram and Nitro) and one trait, such as extra grip on gravel or a free nitro burst after each checkpoint. Clearing Level 1 opens Tier 2, clearing Level 2 opens Tier 3, and so on. Some cars come free with a clear; the others cost Guts Points once their tier is open.
| Tier | Opens | Cars and how to get them |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Beginner | From the start | Pip Hatch: your first car Raiden GT: 11,000 pts Gravel Fox RS: 14,000 pts |
| 2 Easy | Clear Level 1 | Kaze R: free for clearing Level 1 Hoshi Sedan: 20,000 pts Brawler SS: 26,000 pts |
| 3 Intermediate | Clear Level 2 | Stampede V8: free for clearing Level 2 Hammerhead 440: 35,500 pts Apex T1: 45,500 pts |
| 4 Challenging | Clear Level 3 | Rockjaw: free for clearing Level 3 Summit Lux: 53,000 pts Pursuit Interceptor: 67,500 pts |
| 5 Hard | Clear Level 4 | Bastion: free for clearing Level 4 Featherblade: 71,500 pts Ridge Titan: 91,000 pts |
| 6 Expert | Clear Level 5 | Veloce XR: free for clearing Level 5 Zenith: 95,000 pts Warhound: 116,000 pts |
| 7 Final Challenge | Clear Level 6 | Goliath: 141,000 pts Doomrunner: free for clearing Level 7 |
Light cars are fast and grippy but fragile, and crosswinds push them hardest. Heavy cars shrug off rocks and traffic, and cars with Ram 8 or more crush small rocks without taking damage.
Test drives
Test drives will let you take a car you don't own up the mountain for one run in exchange for watching a short ad. They aren't offered yet, because the game shows no ads for now: every car is won by clearing levels or bought with Guts Points.
What hazards does each road have?
Every hazard is signed on the road and shows on your screen with an icon and a word at least 1.5 seconds before it can reach you, often with a trickle of dust or snow, a deep rumble or a horn. Each road is longer than the one before, with more hazards per kilometre, fewer guardrails and less grip.
| Level | Road | Length | Points | Guardrails | What tries to stop you |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Beginner | Mountain Lake Pass | 3.2 km | x1 | 92% | Gentle bends, gravel shoulders, slow cars and small rocks. |
| 2 Easy | Cliffside Turnpike | 4.1 km | x1.25 | 77% | A narrower road, sharper turns, gaps in the guardrails, oncoming cars and trucks, and a rock tunnel. |
| 3 Intermediate | Waterfall Ridge | 5.3 km | x1.5 | 70% | Wet asphalt, narrow bridges, more traffic and waterfall spray that cuts grip and visibility. |
| 4 Challenging | Rockfall Pass | 5.8 km | x1.75 | 57% | Steep climbs, falling boulders, dust clouds, gravel spills and police patrols in narrow lanes. |
| 5 Hard | Snowfall Heights | 6.2 km | x2 | 47% | Black ice, snow drifts, tight hairpins, crosswinds and thin air that cuts engine power by 10%. |
| 6 Expert | Storm Peak | 6.7 km | x2.25 | 28% | Night rain and fog, edges that crumble, landslides, headlight glare and lightning that drops trees. |
| 7 Final Challenge | Summit Showdown | 7.5 km | x2.5 | 21% | Broken bridges to jump, a collapsing road and an avalanche behind you, with ice, rockfall and wind. |
Grip changes under your wheels: wet asphalt grips at 80% of dry asphalt, gravel at 70%, mud at 55%, snow at 50% and black ice at only 35%. Off-road cars lose less on gravel, mud and snow.
Tips for surviving the mountain
- Brake before the hairpin, not in it. Yellow chevron signs mark the sharpest bends.
- Nitro adds speed, not grip. Save it for straights.
- Keep your wheels on asphalt. Gravel shoulders cut your grip.
- Black ice looks glossy. Ease off before you reach it.
- Listen. A deep rumble means rocks are about to fall, and a horn means traffic is coming your way.
- Keep moving on Level 7. Stop for too long and the avalanche catches you, and every broken bridge has a sign with the speed you need to clear the gap.
- Stuck on your roof? After 2 seconds the car is put back on the road for 10% of its health. A fall off a cliff ends the run.
Settings
Settings, on the main menu and the pause menu, has the graphics quality (Auto picks one for your device), phone steering, driver assist, auto-accelerate, the camera, the minimap, Reduce motion (no screen shake or slow motion), music and sound volume, and full screen where your browser allows it.

FAQ
How do I unlock a car?
Clear roads. Each clear opens the next tier of cars, and five roads also give you a car for free: Kaze R, Stampede V8, Rockjaw, Bastion and Veloce XR. The other cars in an open tier can be bought with Guts Points, and every run adds to them, even a crash. Doomrunner, the last car, can only be won by clearing Level 7.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, in your browser on this device: your Guts Points, cars, open roads, stars, best scores and settings. The game saves at the end of every run, after a purchase and when you change a setting. Nothing is sent to a server, so your progress doesn't follow you to another browser or device, and clearing this site's data in your browser starts the game fresh.
Are there ads in the game?
No. There are no ads inside the game. Moeex Games shows ads from Google on its pages, outside the game frame, to help cover the cost of making games.
Is it free, and do I need to install anything?
It's free, with nothing to buy and no account. The game runs in your browser: the first visit downloads the menu, Level 1 and your car, and the other roads load when you pick them.
Which devices does it run on?
Phones, tablets, laptops and desktops with a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, as long as the browser supports WebGL2. The game picks a graphics quality for your device and lowers its resolution when a scene gets heavy. If it stutters, choose a lower quality in Settings.
Why is there no sound?
Browsers only allow sound after your first tap or key press, so the sound starts with the first screen you answer. If you still hear nothing, press M or check the volumes in Settings, and on an iPhone check that the ring and silent switch isn't set to silent.
