Is Tray Rush free?
Yes. There is nothing to buy, nothing to download and no account to make. Moeex Games shows ads from Google on its pages to help cover the cost of making games. There are no ads inside the game.
Which devices does it run on?
Phones, tablets, laptops and desktops, in a recent version of Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox. The game draws its 3D scenes with WebGL, which every current browser supports. On a phone or tablet you play with the on-screen joystick and action button; on a computer, with the keyboard. The guide lists every control.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Open the game page and it loads in your browser. The first visit downloads a few megabytes, most of it the three characters, and a repeat visit loads faster because your browser keeps the files.
Which venue should I start with?
The city diner is a good place to learn: six tables, all close to the kitchen counter. The airplane cabin has 36 seats along one long aisle, so every trip takes longer and you push a trolley that holds two meals. Plan your route before you set off, and take two dishes whenever two are ready.
What is the dare before each shift?
Before a shift starts, the game asks whether you're up for working the floor on your own. Say yes and the shift begins. Say no and you get a short joke about it instead, then go back to the title screen.
Can I keep playing after level 9?
Yes. The level menu lets you start from any level you have unlocked, up to level 9, but a shift doesn't stop there: it carries on for as long as your coins stay above zero. From level 8, customers wait 20 seconds, the shortest the patience bar gets, while a missed order keeps costing 3 more coins with every level.
Why did I get fired?
Your coins dropped to zero. Every missed order costs coins, and the cost grows with each level: 15 coins on level 1, 18 on level 2, and so on. Serving quickly earns a tip on top of the 10 coins a serve pays, and a combo multiplies it, so a few fast serves in a row build the cushion you need for the busy part of a level.
Progress and settings
Is my progress saved?
Yes, in your browser on your device: your settings, the location and character you picked, the levels you have finished with their stars, and your best shift. Nothing is sent to a server, so progress doesn't follow you to another browser or device. Clearing this site's data in your browser settings starts the game fresh.
How do I switch between day and night?
Open Settings from the title screen and choose Day, Night or Auto. Auto follows your device's light or dark mode, so the diner's lamps come on when your phone switches to dark mode in the evening.
Can I play full screen?
On browsers that allow it, the full-screen button on the title screen hides the browser bars. Some phone browsers, Safari on iPhone among them, don't offer full screen to web games, so the button doesn't appear there.
What happens if I switch tabs or apps?
The game pauses by itself and the order timers stop. Customers won't run out of patience while you're away; pick up where you left off with Resume.
Sound and speed
Why is there no sound?
Browsers only allow sound after you tap the screen or press a key, so the music starts with your first tap. If you still hear nothing, check that sound and music are switched on in Settings, and on an iPhone, that the ring and silent switch isn't set to silent.
The game runs slowly on my phone. What can I do?
Tray Rush watches its own frame rate and turns its effects down step by step when a device struggles: first the extra edge smoothing, then the soft glow, then shadows and screen resolution. Closing other tabs and apps helps too. If the browser takes the graphics away, which can happen when memory runs low, the game pauses and brings them back as soon as it can.
